Comic Book Effect transforms a photo into a comic book drawing. It is simple to do and can be very entertaining. I will show you how to get from left picture to right picture using Adobe Photoshop in only five steps.
For this tutorial I used a photo of Heath Leadger and Joaquin Phoenix taken at the Oscars, which I also used for the Cinematic tutorial. It seems like they have something interesting to say to eachother which makes it perfect for this tutorial.
1. Cutout
To get the comic look, we will use the Cutout filter.
Go to Filters -> Artistic -> Cutout.
Try to find the best combination of settings for the comic appearance.
I set the Number of Levels on 5, Edge Simplicity on 4 and Edge Fidelity on 3.

2. Gradient Map
Now we will turn the image into grayscale by using a Gradent Map (the same way that we did in the Leave Color tutorial)
Go to Image -> Adjustments -> Gradient Map and select the Black, White gradient
